Since 2008, more than 11,500 out-of-school, disenfranchised youth have applied to YouthBuild programs across Massachusetts - 11,500 16 to 24 year-olds with a desire to change their futures, knocked on our doors, and we had to turn away more than 7,000 of them. With the funding we receive from the federal/state government, partner organizations, and various grants, we're only able to serve about one third of the young people who come to us for help.

Of the more than 3,000 graduates over the past sixteen years:

  • 79.2% of the students have been placed in full-time employment or institutions of higher education

  • 55.9% of students, compared to 36% nationally in other equivalency programs, attained their high school equivalency degree

  • 81.3% showed literacy and/or numeracy gains of two levels upon completion of the program

  • 34.7% entered the program with criminal justice involvement, with a recidivism rate of only 4.1%

  • They renovated or constructed 1,255 units of housing

  • Altogether, they earned a total of 12,014 industry recognized credentials

  • They completed 1,648 community service projects in addition to their housing projects.
