MEMBER SUCCESS COACH
 
SALARY:    $17.00 hour, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.   
 
Associates degree preferred, 5+ years working with out of school youth, ages 16 – 24.  Ability to design and facilitate work readiness workshops; familiarity with community services available to the population, and the ability to connect with the population; organizational skills, and ability to inspire young people.  Background check required.
 
The YouthBuild Member Success Coach works in a case management capacity to ensure the success of the members from the time of entry through one year after exit.

​Position:                                   YouthBuild Instructor/Case Manager                        
Location:                                 Quincy
Minimum Starting Salary:         $17
Hours:                                      30-40 hours/week
 
 
Make a difference and work at a non-profit that assists youth and adults find meaningful employment. Training Resources of America, headquartered in Worcester, is hiring an Instructor/Case Manager for their Quincy office.  This position:

  • provides High School Equivalency exam preparation and ABE/ESL instruction/testing
  • provides recruitment, intake, assessment and reassessment services,
  • conducts orientation sessions with students to familiarize them with the program and the learning lab materials,
  • conducts training/coordinates workshops to increase their ability to develop self-esteem and become self-sufficient, and to obtain/retain employment;
  • provides personal, academic and vocational counseling, case management, and referral services, as well as maintaining counseling records for clients to ensure successful program participation/completion and achievement of individual goals;
  • provides job readiness training, job development and job placement activities to clients to help them obtain/retain employment;
  • develops contacts through community outreach;
  • represents TRA at local youth committees and performs other duties.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree required. Massachusetts State Teacher Certification and 1-2 years experience working with youth and High School Equivalency preparation preferred.  English/Spanish bi-lingual capability strongly desired.  This job requires the ability to relate/communicate with a diverse, multi-cultural population with varying needs/issues.  It also requires initiative, creativity and strong organizational skills to cultivate and present the various curricula.  It requires flexibility and the ability to produce required results in students, as well as the ability to work closely with staff in a team approach to achieve overall program goals.

TWO ​OPENINGS IN BOSTON

Director of Development, YouthBuild Boston

This Position supports the mission of YouthBuild Boston by helping the organization raise annual revenue to achieve its budget goals in all areas including operations, program, and capital (special building projects/maintenance). Currently, YBB has an operating budget of $2million, and capital needs vary. The Director of Development is a member of the YBB leadership team and will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to meet annual fundraising goals through strong relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Further the successful candidate will be a creative, organized, strategic and entrepreneurial thinker with the ability to both plan ahead and attend to the immediate needs of the department.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
ANNUAL FUNDRAISING PLAN: In collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and the Development Team, the Director of Development will develop YBBs annual fundraising plan, which should include monthly timelines and quarterly benchmarks towards the accomplishment of annual revenue goals largely through the following efforts:

CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS and GRANT WRITING: With the support of a GRANTWRITER develop a robust pipeline of relevant local and national grant opportunities that align with YBB’s mission, work and values, and ensure submission of competitive proposals in a timely manner based on a comprehensive grant submission plan that is created annually. Work in collaboration with the ED to build and sustain strong corporate and foundation relationships through a variety of stewardship and cultivation activities.

INDIVIDUAL DONOR CULTIVATION AND SOLICITATION: Develop a solid understanding of YBB’s current donor base and execute a stewardship/cultivation and solicitation plan for individual donors, including monthly contact benchmarks, a communication calendar, produce and mail annual appeal, and conceptualize and implement special recognition efforts, with support from Development Team Members and ED.

AMBASSADOR OF THANKS: With the support of the Development Associate, ensure that all philanthropic gifts are receipted (entered into the database) and acknowledged in a timely manner and that donor records are kept up to date.

EVENTS: Serve as lead on all of YBBs fundraising and Friend-raising events; develop an event calendar, including overlap with YBB’s programming events, and conceptualizing of other annual or bi-annual signature events.

COMMUNICATION: Develop standard communication practice to constituents across the organization to assure consistency of brand and experience. Oversee/Develop annual communications calendar as well as collateral and marketing materials (digital and hardcopy). Develop annual appeal direct mail campaign.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated experience raising annual revenue for mid-size to large non-profits
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to write and speak persuasively towards the development of quality, successful grant proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage corporate/individual donors and prospects
  • Ability to effectively utilize and manage support staff, interns and consultants
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly WORD, EXCELL and Power Point
  • Familiarity with budgets, Constant Contact & Salesforce
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize competing demands
  • Ability to successfully work independently as well as in teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Required
  • Salary commensurate with experience

ELA H.E.D. Instructor, YouthBuild Boston
Reports to: MS H.E.D. Instructor

Job Summary: The H.E.D. Instructor is responsible for providing direction for academic instruction at YouthBuild Boston and working directly with students to teach, support and inspire program participants to meet their educational goals.

Responsibilities:
Direct Instruction (22 hrs./wk.)
  • Create and teach detailed, engaging lessons in reading, writing and social studies (including civics, history and economics) in a remote or hybrid setting, as state and city rules  demand, to prepare students to achieve passing scores on their HiSET Exams and earn the High School Equivalency Diploma.  When appropriate, include content pertaining to the building trades and/or service learning,
  • Utilize various teaching methods to develop/adapt curricula and activities to meet needs of students at various stages of academic and behavioral readiness.
  • Utilize computers/technology to enhance learning.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops for various Mental Toughness and Life Skills workshops with appropriate staff as necessary, particularly technology assessments, service learning, and the history of service and project management.
  • Lead planning for and, when possible, attend, field trips with students as appropriate.
Planning/Assessment (12 hrs./wk.) 
  • Create, research and refine detailed lesson plans to teach social studies, reading and writing and respond to students’ unique learning styles and levels of progress. 
  • Assess students’ proficiencies, identify gaps, measure progress and implement plans to address problem areas.  Share written assessments with students monthly.
  • Participate in meetings with H.E.D. and Vocational Instructors and Case Managers to coordinate lesson plans and discuss student progress.
  • Participate in/contribute to systems for clear, concise and timely communication with case managers and construction team about program participants.
  • Attend and participate regularly in staff meetings, trainings, retreats and events.
  • Student Intake Process:  Set up and proctor TABE 11 & 12 Online pre- and posttests for BTE and PA students as needed
Evaluation (6 hrs./wk.)
  • Grade and evaluate student work material to measure benchmarking progress and readiness for Hi-SET test taking
  • Assess effectiveness and utilize assessment data to continually  improve teaching and student outcomes.
  • Track students’ classroom attendance, test scores and grades and share written evaluations and assessments with team members and senior managers as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • The ELA H.E.D. Instructor should have the vision, passion and maturity to ensure students experience a safe, welcoming and challenging academic environment that inspires them to achieve educational gains and proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required
  • 1 - 2 years’ teaching experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative and time management skills

Physical Work Environment:
  • The position will require moving around classroom, navigating desks and chairs, writing on white boards, manipulating a projector and screen as needed.
  • Candidate must be able to stand and sit for considerable amounts of time to teach, record grades, do computer work and make copies of lesson materials.
  • Must be able to bend to reach lower drawers and book shelves as well as reach up to higher book shelves and file cabinets
  • Classrooms include two on the 2nd floor, as well as 1st floor computer lab and multi-purpose space and a 3rd floor conference room

Assistant Education Instructor, YouthBuild North Shore CDC

The YouthBuild Assistant Education Instructor (YAEI) will be a motivated self-starter that is passionate about educating alternative youth learners and positive youth development, able to pay close attention to detail and work in a collaborative supportive environment to help underserved Opportunity Youth ages 16-24 work towards success and self-sufficiency. The YAEI will work closely with the Educational Coordinator in supporting educational needs of the program participants.  The YAEI will have the opportunity to lead classroom instruction, design curriculum and develop lesson plans that will encourage a supportive learning environment for alternative learners.

Specific Duties
  • Teach basic adult education to students with varying academic levels integrating reading, math language arts, social studies and science
  • Develop innovative project-based lessons inclusive of critical and creative thinking exploring themes of social justice, career readiness and life skill development.
  • Assess individual student progress and adapt curriculum and lesson plans according to the individual learning needs of the students
  • Responsible for record keeping and organizing student files regularly 
  • Serve as an active participant and educational expert in our diverse offering of programmatic activities across program components

Qualifications
  • High energy and a positive role model to help motivate young people through creative 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent or a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Strong commitment to cultivating a safe, respectful and collaborative learning environment of youth aged 16-24
  • Capable of operating computer systems and strong understanding of how to navigate technology
