14th Annual YouthBuild Carpentry Challenge
Each year, YouthBuild Lawrence takes over a part of the parking lot at Home Depot in Methuen, MA to host their annual Carpentry Challenge. Teams of five students were charged with constructing three walls with a window and a door. Winners were chosen based on which team constructed their walls the fastest and the best. The judges were construction staff from Massachusetts YouthBuild Coalition member programs.
Participants this year came from: Boston, Fall River, Lawrence, Springfield, Quincy, Worcester, Barre VT and Burlington VT. YouthBuild Fall River was this years' champion. YouthBuild Springfield and YouthBuild Lawrence tied for second place, and YouthBuild Burlington received third place honors. YouthBuild Lowell, while unable to participate, sent up students to cheer on their peers.
